February 2010 Update

2010 has kicked off to an exciting start for all out bands!

Faker gave a very special performance at Big Day Out’s 100th show billed under ‘Freak’ – they really had the crowd going and played a bunch of new tracks as well as all the old favourites. The boys are currently spending countless hours in the studio working hard on the highly anticipated 3rd album and follow up to ‘Be The Twilight’ due later this year.

Shihad have had a great start to the year supporting AC/DC on their recent tour across New Zealand. ‘After more than 20 years together, Shihad still know how to put on one hell of a live show and were the perfect choice to amp up the crowd. Kimberley Crayton-Brown, NewsWire.co.nz

Latest single ‘Drop Your Guard’ is at radio now and receiving rave reviews. rating: 5/5  Awesome club track with top-end production. It’s dirty, sexy, bouncy and hella-catchy. Kinda like the bastard offspring of a one night stand between Peaches and Bumblebeez. The Dr Who sample is genius! Dan Buhagiar, triple j

Happy New Year – 2010

Looking back on 2009 we were involved in a huge year with our Artist clients.

After a massive 2008 including a gold status single & album, ARIA nominations and sold out shows Faker kicked off 2009 supporting Pink on the first half of her massive Australian tour. They then went on to mentor two young up-and-coming bands on the JD Set, before heading into the studio to begin work on album number 3. They’ve eased into 2010 with a few shows (including a special secret show coming up); with the much anticipated follow up to ‘Be The Twilight’ due later in the year.

The Shihad boys emerged from their studio in the middle of a Melbourne Winter for a run of sold out shows across Australia & New Zealand, each one wilder than the last! Returning home the band has been adding the finishing touches to their 8th studio album due out April this year. ‘Cold Heart’, the first track from the new album, is currently available for streaming off the Homegrown website, www.homegrown.nz which Shihad are headlining in February; after supporting AC/DC around New Zealand later this month.

After touring with the Big Day Out in Jan 2009 and with a string of sold out concerts across March and April;  Sparkadia packed their bags and said auf wiedersehen to Australia for a little while to go write album number 2 overseas. They’ve come back and are set to release their beautiful blend of indie-pop on the world in May.

2009 also saw Aloha add two new acts to our roster – Kill Teen Angst and Metals.

Kill Teen Angst are an indie-rock band out of Perth bound to set Australia on fire in 2010. Playing shows across Australia with bands such as Shihad, Biffy Clyro and Philadelphia Grand Jury in 2009, this year has seen the band release their first single ‘Gen Y’ off their upcoming album ‘No Walls In The Sky’ at the Amplifier Bar to rave reviews. With a slot on St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Perth later this year, expect to hear big things from this band.

Melbourne dance/hip-hop/electronic act Metals are quickly emerging as a band to watch. Formed by Chris Coe and Candice Butler, they blend hip-hop, soul, funk and dance music together to create their own unique sound. Remixes of their track ‘That Ain’t Real Love’ have been burning up the dance charts, and their first single ‘Drop Your Guard’ off their upcoming debut album has just been released to radio.
